Good question! - Hmmmm.... Right now I think I would want my last words to be: "Hey everyone, this has been a lot of fun... I was going to fix everything on this planet for you before I left, but then I realized that would leave you with nothing to do; and I don't want you to be bored so I have decided to leave everything just the way it is and leave soon to reincarnate on another planet. Good bye and thanks for all of thee fish!" - and I would want to say it to everyone! ;)

| I am interested in many many things... but passionate? 1) Staying healthy 2) Understanding what is ~really~ going on in this world, even if that is impossible to fully accomplish for any one human. 3) Getting better at Wei-Chi (aka Go, Baduk, Weiqi, Igo, Paduk, and Weiqi). 4) Enjoying my life and spending some good quality time with my closest friends. I am also very concerned about the future of human civilization, like will their be a WWIII over water, food &/or crude oil and can we manage to make things better for the next 200 years... but I am also sometimes a little detached from the rest of the world, so my "passion"/concern is not always there. How about you?

| Alice Cooper and Man Raze took over Wolverhampton Civic Hall last night. 15 photos of Alice Cooper are up at: http://www.blackvelvetmagazine.com/alicecooperphotos.htm 15 photos of Man Raze can be found at http://www.blackvelvetmagazine.com/manrazephotos.htm A review of the show will be in issue 63 of Black Velvet. Don't forget there's an interview with the awesome Keri Kelli of Alice Cooper's band in the current issue of Black Velvet, PLUS an interview with the super-cool Phil Collen of Man Raze (and Def Leppard) also in the issue. More info and to order is at http://www.blackvelvetmagazine.comSaw Keri after the show briefly and passed on some Black Velvets to him. This evening I wrote my review of the show - and I've just got off the phone from interviewing Josh Todd of Buckcherry. That interview will also be in issue 63 of Black Velvet. - Mood:chipper

| Hey LJers,
I just wanted to let you all know that we are going to be performing some mogilefs maintenance over the next few days. We will be upgrading our current version to latest stable as well as changing some db config information to better handle the amount of files we are currently hosting. This shouldn't cause a big impact on site stability, but you may see some minor delays with userpic / scrapbook images appearing or other requests associated with our mogilefs. We would love to not have that happen, but unfortunately with some of the steps we need to take we have to cause a delay with images. I figured this was a better solution than taking down all of LiveJournal because well lets face it, we all need our daily LJ fix ;)
Thanks, | |

| I finally got brave enough to hang out my shingle. This blog will expire in another month, but before it does, I'd like to link (through rss feeds?) to friends on this blog, if nobody minds. (I'm cross posting this my communities...forgive me this once?) What shingle? That would be " 3rd Task, Tarot for the Hero's Journey"--my online tarot reading site. It's actually taking off! It's on Blogger instead of LJ, which is good and bad. Good because I don't have to pay to not have advertisements on my blog. Bad because I prefer the way LJ works when it comes to finding friends, setting up the page (soooo many more template options). But I got my camera out, did some piecing together, and linked three sites into one, at very little overhead cost. Took a while, (during which the DH would come home and wonder what I'd done all day...) but it's up, it works, and I do readings every day now. Odd discovery: online readings are a wonderful way to help people! There's a definite "Hanged Man" principle involved--the willingness to be still, stop fighting it, and learn to listen rather than talk. But the actual online factor helps with that, because a reading is about the person asking the question, with less distraction from the social aspect. I hope some of you feel like dropping by 3rd Task and seeing what I've been up to. Comments are disabled for the part that acts like a web-page but they're wide open for the actual blog part. It's been a labor of love, and this is my way of passing out cigars. | |

| The Death card of last month opened a new door while shutting an old door behind us... now we find ourselves on the border of a new world, a new perspective, and we find this in The Hanged Man. The upside down shrouded figure is on the threshold of being reborn into a new life through the split open pomegranate. The figure hangs in a static contemplation of its life so far in this world, and from this higher perspective is able to look down upon its world and make predetermined decisions about where to go next, what path to take, the best route to the finish. The element of water is dominant in The Hanged Man archetype, for it is reflective. You will see what your mind is ready to see, a hellhole or paradise? Water reflects one's inner state of mind and emotions, and may play tricks on our perspective, is it real or delusional? Empty the corruption from your mind and look clearly if you dare. The Hanged Man is appropriate for the twelfth and final month of the year, for it is the twelfth card, and it is the next step into a new year, a new life. Wiser and more aware of where we're at we are reborn into great changes. Like it or not it's time to take the first step forward into the new dimension of ourselves, and a new decade of our lives. | I'm The Man
Anthrax | MySpace Music VideosYou can file this one under "WTF(OB)"?
Yes, the rumors are true: The members of Fall Out Boy who are not named Patrick Stump or Pete Wentz have started a new metal band called The Damned Things. This should not be a surprise most FOB fans, seeing that the band announced that they would be taking a hiatus (or was it a break?) earlier this year.
But what will come as a surprise is just who guitarist Joe Trohman and drummer Andy Hurley have formed this band with. Not only do they have Every Time I Die frontman Keith Buckley on vocals, but they have somehow enlisted metal legend Scott Ian of Anthrax to sit in on guitar.
Right now, further news on the supergroup is fairly sparse. (You can see a parked profile with their URL here and read some comments from Ian on Kerrang's website.) So it's hard to say what we can we expect from the band other than, you know, a legal battle over what label owns the rights to the band.
But as more news becomes available, we'll report it here.
In the meanwhile, check out the video for "I'm The Man" above because, let's face it, you probably haven't watched it in at least 10 years and it's still as awesome as you remember it. - Mood:shocked

| In today's exercise, we are going to examine how we can use the Tarot to help us generate ideas and work towards obtaining what we want in our lives. This has nothing to do with spells; this is simple 'Laws of Attraction” to help us define what we want, and decide how to get it. In a notebook, write down one of your personal goals. You might want to lose weight, or do better at your job; you might want to cultivate compassion or empathy; or maybe you're wanting to join an organization or team. Write down anything you are hoping to achieve, whether it is short-term or long-term. Shuffle your Tarot cards, the whole deck, and draw one card randomly as in the previous lesson. Write down your observations on this card, using the probing questions from earlier weeks. Now, let's pretend that this card was given to you by someone you hold in very high esteem. However, this person has a sore throat, so instead of communicating to you through words, they are using the image on your chosen Tarot card to communicate what they want to say to you. ExampleLet's say your goal was to have a more positive outlook on life. Your chosen card was the Five of Cups, as illustrated in the bottom left card here: http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/cards/golden-rider/ You see the figure looking dejected, with three cups spilled. Your mentor approaches, and says to you, “But you still have two cups standing upright, have you looked to see what is in them? Can you see the castle in the distance? There's a bridge to get you there, the trees are green and growing strong, there isn't even a cloud in the sky!” So your goal to have a more positive outlook on life based on the 5 of Cups might inspire you to: 1)Start looking at what is there rather than what is lost, 2)Look for bridges and ways to get where you want to go, 3)Keep believing in your castles in the air, 4)Don't put storm clouds in your way when there are none 5)Wait for everything to grow and come to harvest in its own time. In your notebook, write down what your mentor might be saying to you about reaching your goals, based on the images on the card that you have chosen. Now write just one thing that you are going to do today to bring yourself closer to that goal. - Mood:motivated

i need life, i need light.
.
preparing for my show in january. raymond & i have settled upon a title: interstice. our show is about emptiness.
the pieces have all been selected. seven diptychs; that is fourteen 12x18 photographs. how difficult is it to find 12x18 frames? very difficult. & very expensive. & i do not particularly like the number fourteen; i find it skinny, lanky, clumsy, falsely even. but when it fits, the concessions no longer are.
.
full spectrum light (need a).
blame the moon, wait for blood.
stopped waiting for you, i lied.

| I've been reading tarot on and off for about 8 years. However, I always have had trouble with reversals. They are a particular trial to me. Most troubling to me are when "negative" meanings wind up in the "Strengths" spot of my celtic cross spread. For instance, today the Knight of Pentacles showed up reversed in my monthly reading. Now, this card is generally indicative of either a person who is getting sloppy and neglectful with his work/finances or a loss of money when reversed. So, how do I translate this into a "strength?!"
If you want to see it in the context of the spread, this is how it was:
Present Events – 4 of Pentacles Present Influences – Queen of Wands, rev Past Events -- 0 The Fool, rev Past Influences – 2 of Swords Future Events -- 6 of Cups Future Influences – 4 The Emperor Environment – 9 of Pentacles Strengths – Knight of Pentacles, rev Hopes and Fears -- 10 of Wands, rev Outcome – 19 The Sun tion

I think the "right" to breathe reasonably clean air supersedes any "right" for anyone to make the air unhealthy. I used to be a smoker many years ago and think it's a nasty habit now, and hate going into clubs where the smoke is so thick you can barely see and you come home and smell of cigarettes. If you want to poison your lungs, go for it, but you shouldn't be making others participate without their consent. Smoking is a privilege, not a right. I am glad many jurisdictions in the DC area have now banned it from public places. I'd like to see tobacco products taxed even more heavily, maybe it can be used to offset public healthcare costs.

| I rented a new book from the library called Tarot for Your Self: A Workbook for Personal Transformation. It looked really interesting as I am always trying to look at my Tarot cards from different angles. I am going to try and take about an hour every day and try something with this book. If I find something I will probably post it on here. Well the book asked a few questions, and here are my answers.
What do you feel is the purpose of Tarot Cards?
I feel that Tarot cards are spiritual objects that allow us to see things that we not always see or take notice to. I do believe that they can show us pieces of ourselves and possibly aspects of future events. (I have experienced seeing piece of the future myself. Many will argue that you can tell the future with cards, but we did a yearly reading in December of 2008 and as I look back at the reading things have come true that the cards said would. I can also see someone saying that you put the idea in your head, but I can picture 9 of Stones or 9 of Cups in my head and yet I am not that rich or lucky. . .) They are ways for us to find pieces of ourselves that may have been hidden or the truths we do not want admit.
What do you want to learn from the Tarot?
I want to see different aspects of myself and for the cards to tell me things I don’t know. I want to learn and experience spirituality on another level through the cards.
What I am hopping to learn from the book Tarot for Your Self 2nd Ed.?
I would like to view my cards at another, more personal angle. I want to see more of me.
